Boats that have Volvo Penta V8 s WTK

Hi all, I am very new to the boating world...guess that make me an ordinary seaman here.
Anyway I just bought an old boat...problem is I don't know the Hull, or Class or any thing or even how to measure the thing...
Now I know this is useless info but I need your help...
This is what I know...I think its a pocket cruiser

IT HAS a VOLVO V8 engine with a 4 barrel holley
IT has a stern drive
It has a tiny cabin with a head under the cushions of the beds.

Any advice where to begin...?
How do I know, size, hull/class?

sounds like a cuddy.... for size... well length is front to back in a straight line.... beam is side to side at widest point..... as for class and whatever.... it doesn't matter unless you are trying to describe it to someone.... this pocket cruiser term has come up a few times lately.... While it is an actual term and seems to be defined by the so called experts..... for all intents and purposes there is no such thing........ The reason I say that is that if you grab 5 boat gurus and ask the questiion "what is a pocket cruiser" you will get 5 different answers.... Honestly I think it is a term coined by owners of really big boats to seperate their class from those of us in the "little" boats

less cabin than deck generally = cuddy
If you have to lift a cushion to get to a porta potty then it isn't what most would call a cruiser..... generally when one says cruiser or cabin cruiser they expect a dinette, galley (kitchen), head (bathroom) with sink and shower, and a berth (bed) or 2 or 3....
All these terms are subject to debate... in my area for example people are excedingly uneducated...... I swear with the locals here you have to break out the cave paint and sticks to have a conversation

Thank you smokeonthewater. Quite an informative input...I will measure the length and beam...length will be keel side or.......?
I am imagining it would be the distance traversed from bow to stern if it were bounded by two vertical poles on each end...
As for class, well I was hoping I know so you know I can say I have a 19ninetysumthin...2X foot Blank you know...so i can look for a manual of sorts as well
Anyway...I will measure it...
The head has a water supply but definitely no dinette room or stoves, in fact it sort of looks alot like you pic but way smaller and without the solid overhead wing thingy.
Thanks for you help and keep the advice coming if you see fit ...(sounds like I have a lot to learn...a whole lot)

yep just length between two points.... not along the curved bottom or around the side or over the top......
look here and see if these look like what you have... Notice how vague this is..... there are a few boats in there I wouldn't call cuddy's but you get the idea..... don't you have a title? if so post up some info like year make and model ... posting a pic would help too... On the right rear corner of the boat there should be a number stamped or molded into the outside of the hull .... post that up

Sorry now reading this...pics to follow in a few weeks...I will look on right rear corner for number...now I am assuming this is some code that belongs to some sort of international standards that will reveal info on the vessel

well I looked through about 2689 pics...lol and this looks the closest to it...
Except my step is in the middle and there are no port holes

you linked to your email.... that won't work... open your email and right click the image to save it to your computer..... then when you post click the little paper clip... you then browse your computer for the picture you saved.....
In order to do it with the image button you need to upload the picture to the www somewhere annd link to it there

Ayuh,... The hin #, or vin # is found on the upper starboard area of the transom...
That # will reveal the Manufacturer...

Redeye;

Before you put this boat in the water, do yourself a favor, take a boating safety class, either a Power Squadron or Coast Guard one. You will learn a lot about boats and their proper use and terminology. You will also meet a lot of local people who can help identify your boat, give it a safety inspection and advise what is needed and get you so that you don't have to refer to to a part as a "thingy".

BTW, I knew what you meant by "WTK" and normally I haven't a clue. I guess we must be from the same school.

What is you location by the way?
