Re: Boats you miss or wish you still had?

Should've kept our first family boat...74 Ebbtide Lakemaster fiberglass trihull with 73 Merc 500. Not fast or pretty, but it was a great learning machine...easy to load, handle and maintain. Pix attached. My first mate was a lot younger/smaller then..we had a lot of good times tubing, etc. in the old Lakemaster.

I really miss this old girl, she was big and heavy and could take any seas with ease.

I miss my gw invader 1o foot speed boat. Had a 2003 merc 50hp outboard on it. It would fly. Sold it in 2007 with my sweet 2003 merc 25hp long shaft with a cmc power plate on it. Put it on craigs list, sold in under one hour. My kids sure do miss it. With the monterey the old girl would never get used.

Great thread, time for a little reminiscing!

When I was a kid, we had a 14 foot 65 Glastron Ski Flite with a 33hp Evinrude Ski Twin. My brother wrecked it when it was less than a year old during some horseplay when a friend in another boat ran into him (luckily, no serious injuries). Was my dad pi$$ed, it was the first time I ever heard him swear! We got it fixed, but the glass repair was sloppy and looked like crap, although it did hold up for another 37 years. We spent countless summer hours having fun in that boat.

What about the old adage, "The two happiest days in a boat owner's life are the day he buys the boat and the day he sells it."?

Does the prism of time distort our memories? Or do we just miss those times because we were young?

But that's a different thread...

Re: Boats you miss or wish you still had?

I had to let the Ebbtide Lakemaster go because my first mate outgrew the lake and SWMBO doesn't really care for the water...was too much for just me and the lab, my second mate. Downsized to a 15-foot tinny v-hull with 3 bench seats...kept it for 3 years, and then decided to upsize again due to lower back problems aggravated by the bench seats. Now I'm restoring an early 60's Texas Maid 15-foot runabout tinny...and have completely refitted it all by myself. Don't know if I'll ever fit the bill for part two of that saying..."the day he sells it." It bums me out to let one go unless I already have my eye on another one. Calico, you are either single or married to a real keeper!! Six and counting...wow.

14" John boat with I think it was a 4 hp Johnson motor. Use to just throw it on top of my VW square back, motor and all, strap it down front and back and go. Back up to edge of river bank and drop it in butt first. How simple it was back then!

I shared a 40 foot seaworthy sail catamaran with my brother. It had 2 40 horse outboards. It did well over 30 knots with the right wind.It took us on a summer voyage from Amsterdam all the way to the Lofoten Islands in northern Norway just south of Tromso. This was in the late sixties. These days it is probably being used as a huge flower pot.

Just picked up this hideously sexy gem for $100.

Found it in some dude's yard and had to have it. It's rock solid and all there but a 15" motor. Information on the Aqua Loop is extremely limited. Looking to find out how rare it really is, what it's worth, etc. Trying to find a cheap motor ASAP!! Money is tight but I wanna ride it.210643_10101015828448534_9364621_81044823_192734_o.jpg 218436_10101015833184044_9364621_81044872_8094562_o.jpg

My uncle had a cool boat when I was a kid.. It was a boston whaler that he had built a homemade cabin out of mahogany on it.. Wasn't a big boat.. Maybe 19ft? Just had a 90hp Yamaha on it.. Still it tooled right along even with the extra weight..
You could stay the weekend out on it easy.. We wade fished so the boat was just the place we slept and ate.. As I got older he sold it and we got into shallow running boats.. Still to this day wish I had that boat.. Whoever got that scored.. Wish I had a picture..

My boats that I have sold.. I was glad to see em go.. Not that they was bad apples, just wanted something different and old stuff had to go first..

pitbull, please start a new thread. Your post has nothing to do with this one and dug it from the years old archives. And then poor Josh got sucked back in :p

Re: Boats you miss or wish you still had?

Sorry. I found someone else had mentioned having one earlier in this thread and thought I might get some info about this thing which I am so eager to take for a ride. Will try another thread.

We had a 1999 VIPER CORAL f/s with a 225 Merc. Was a pretty quick boat. Miss her.

Re: Boats you miss or wish you still had?

We had a '59 Parsons Lake N' Sea when I was a kid. It wound up getting dumped off the trailer pulling it one year, and my Dad bought a newer boat the following year. Last I heard a cousin of mine still has the old Lake N' Sea, but I'd love to get my hands on one again. Not a big boat, but very a fun old "glassic."
