I never did see them in concert but when I was a grad student at Hofstra University in Hempstead LI they played several shows at Nassau Coliseum and there were tons of Dead heads camped out the parking lot for a few days…me I was too busy as a grad student then! But sure looked like fun!

My wife of blessed memory told me that she used to go to the concerts in Rochester where the Jefferson Airplane would play in the city while the Dead would play at the Rochester Institute of Technology. When the concert at RIT was over, the Dead would come downtown and jam with the Airplane deep into the night. Those were precious concerts.

I knew a guy that followed them for many years and supported him self selling Quesadillas out of the back of his truck.

There were definitely guys doing that in the parking lot of Nassau Coliseum way back when. Which ironically was the site of the former Mitchel Air Force Base.

The concert T I have from July 1990 Chicago is still in the closet...... I remember part of the drive to the concert. I remember waking up in the back seat of my buds car sometime later the next day.
