I have a 1983 75 hp Evinrude. I recently rebuilt the carbs. It runs great at low throddle. When I go past mid throddle and beyond it acts like it not getting enough fuel. When I go full throddle and push in the primer on the controls it runs like a champ. Do you think this is a bad fuel pump? Is this a common problem?

I had a problem similar on my 115 Johnson. Turned out to be air leaking in the fuel line between the tank and the motor. I replaced the fuel line with the primer bulb between the tank and the motor and it fixed it. I think it was about $15 at WalMart for the pre-fabbed setup. I have also had problems with the plastic hose clamps on the fuel lines in the motor. Check all of them for leaks. I noticed gas dripping out of them while the engine was running. I have used both zip ties and metal hose clams to fix those. I prefer the old style metal hose clamps.

New fuel lines and use real hose clamps. It sounds like an air leak since you choke it and it runs good. Rebuild the fuel pump

All good advice. DON"T run it around until you get it running right. You could burn it up. It's so tempting to just take the boat out and run a tank of gas through it so see if it clears itself up. No! No!
