my 1987 yamaha 115 starts fine
but idle is some times right on at 700 other times its 200

any ways I give it about quarter and it seems like it is only runing on 2 or 3 cylinders ill touch the choke and it picks up and is fine. I ve replaced the plugs it made a small difference. I have yet to take the carbs off. Before I do that id like to no the float heigth and air screw specs. But what do you guys think is the problem ?

thanks

You have a carb running too lean at low speed, Johnny. It needs overhaul. Might as well do them all while you are at it.

Do nothing until you have a Service Manual. Sometimes we do a disservice by substituting for a manual. That is not good. It is better that we help you use your manual.

Anyone who works on an outboard without a manual has a fool for a technician. paraphrased from Steelspike

Is there a specific kit you can purchace from yamaha ?
What is in a kit ? jets gasket

motor works fine other than that plugs are a nice tan color.

Every one on here is telling me to mix 50:1 well the injection pump on these yamahas is 100:1 and mine is unhooked. Ive been running it at 60:1 but too rich.
Have you any experience with the oil ratio on these yamahas ?

Re: bogy at low throttle

Johnny, I had a similar bogging problem and ended up cleaning the carbs. There was a bit of dirt completely blocking the jet housed in the float bowl. I just purchased the float bowl gaskets and manifold gaskets. For a gasket, they're not cheap! I was suprised at how easy it was to pull the carbs, pull them apart and clean. Whole job took less than 4hrs and very straight forward. Motor runs better than ever now!
