My trailer is quite long and I do a lot of maneuvering in darkness both early AM and late at night. I run halogen tractor lights, the rubber type, on the truck for back up lights and they are quite bright. I also run 2 non-halogen tractor lights, same rubber type, on the back of the trailer. As you could have guessed ... constant submerging of the lamps, even though unplugged from the truck during launching, significantly shortens the life. I have tried both sealing the lamp to the rubber housing and providing drainage holes and neither seems to help. Mounting the lights on a guide post won't work as the boat weighs 9000lbs and will easily snap off the post if not loading straight. So, does anyone know of a submersible, bolt on light that is suitable for use on a boat trailer as a backup light? Short of hooking up my T-Top spreader lights to the trailer backup lights, I'm out of ideas!!!
