I have a 1992 fourwinns with a 4.3l cobra (V6chevy) can any one help me with the bolt size for the oil drain plug? I want to install a Fumoto valve with the hose barb to make my oil changes a little easier.

Re: Bolt size help

I had planned to take the bolt out and get the size but had just changed the oil. So my next choice was to tap the knowledge base that is Iboats. My dipstick goes in to a block at the bottom of the oil pan that has a bolt in it.

Re: Bolt size help

You should just pull your plug to be sure. On OMC's they used their own pans and the threads varied from different years. Of course they had the dipstick attached there so that makes a huge difference.

There are oil drain kits that are sold for the mercs, you can buy those instead of the fumoto valve or find out what thread they have. No good reason to have the valve anyway. The drain kits just have a hose with a plug in it. You pass the hose through the drain hole of your transom.

Thanks for the replies guys. I was looking at this one at Overtons. Looks good. and it says 1/2x20 should fit too. But Ill probably pull the bolt eventually to make sure before ordering anything. And good call on the size Bond-o.
