Can anyone give me the size of the 2 large bolts that hold the gimbal housing to the plate on the transom? Just got done putting a 4.3 in and somehow those 2 bolts are nowhere to be found so I need to buy new ones. Just don't know what length/thread size

What are you working on? Are you talking about the two bolts at the bottom of an Alpha transom assembly? If so, those are special alloy bolts - not regular bolts. Part # 55989A8

Its an alpha one. Its the 2 bolts that connect the whole engine assembly to the transom assembly

Ayuh,.... That's a Merc only motor mount bolt,....

A 1/2"-20 bolt 'bout 6" long,.... It's related hardware, 'n it order is Very important,....
The nut, I tape into the transom plate, it's captive anyways, 'n the tape saves chasin' in the bilge later,....

Yeah I saw how many washers there were and thought it was kind of ridiculous, then i saw how the bolt holds it down when i was in there and realized the washers all need to be in there in order for it to hold correctly. The tape is a good tip tho. this is the 3rd or 4th I've done and Ive been lucky enough to not have had an issue with the nuts falling out. until this one today, and it was a real pain getting it back in there.

It`s also needed to achieve the correct engine alignment to the coupler
