hi .... has anybody and advise as what to use to bolt the bow rail down when you can not get to the inside to tighten any thing up ... stainless if pos as well ???????????
There are stainless steel toggle bolts available at Overtons, but they're designed to fasten seats, etc., and require a 1/2" hole. If they'd work, they'd be a solution.
I used a skinny kid with long arms. Actually, I drilled a hole in the middle where it would be under the mounting plate. Took a thin piece of metal in an L shape, put a little glue on the nuts and positioned them under the mount holes. Sealed the big holes and VERY CAREFULLY started the bolts.
Jerico's idea is excellent, but I would screw (pun intended) that up in a heartbeat. I use 3/16" ss screws with 5200 as an adhesive/sealant and have never had one rip out. If you go this route, the key is to choose your drill bit carefully. Too tight and you ring off the screw...too loose and they will not hold well.
