What are your opinions on bolting on your kicker. I have an 8hp on a 16 ft aluminum hull, and it is currently only clamped on.I'm thinking of bolting it as well as recommended by Mercury, but am hesitant to drill holes in my transom. Also want to make sure I have it right where I want it first.Any opinions, thoughts or ideas? Also,if I do bolt it through the lower holes,I assume I would still use the clamps as well?Any thoughts would be appreciated, thanks.

Re: Bolting on kicker

I'd recomend a kicker bracket. I found a used one for 30 bucks to clamp my 5.5hp Johnson onto. That way you can easily move it up or down depending on conditions and whatnot.

Panther makes a nice oneif you want brand-new, mine is a two pieces of plywood but the new ones are rot-free material.

I haven't bolted it on yet but it will make things easier to deal with. I'm going to just clamp it on tightly.
