Well the road to hell is paved with good intentions.
The plan was to bolt on the new coupler using the old holes and drilling one more hole.
That all went to hell when I went to mount it. There is a gap between the top of the frame and the coupler.
That washer measures .085" so the gap is .10".
Can I bolt it on or does it need to sit in direct contact with the trailer frame.
If it does, I will have to move it back about 2" so I can drill new holes.
Or, can I get a piece of delrin, steel, aluminum, etc to slide in between.
If it matters, the rectangular tube is 1/8" wall 3"x4" and the bolts are all grade 8. The plan is to use crush spacers inside the tube to prevent any crushing of the trailer tube or tongue when torquing the bolts down to their proper spec.
