I'm thinking about using a grouper anode on my boat. The instructions are to clamp it onto the bonding system. Is the negative terminal of the batteries considered part of the bonding system?

Re: bonding system

Nope,...

The Negative (-) of the battery is the Ground.....

All Metals in a boat need to be Bonded to the motor's Block....
The Electrical system is Grounded to the Battery....
While both systems overlap, they're Not the Same....

Attach your anode to the engine Block, or the drive....

Maybe this'll help. The diagram is for twin-engine boats but I think you'll get the idea.....Your grouper would be eqivalent to the ground plate on the hull.
