There is no difference between an automotive and a marine coil. You don't have to get a marine coil.

... please let me know what is different!

It has the little sticker on it that says "MARINE".... Have a fire or explosion, for any reason at all, and the insurance assessors go looking for that sticker.... If he no find.... they no pay!!! And that is an important difference....

I don't care if the internals are exactly the same, if it ain't marine, it don't go on my boat! And it shouldn't go on your boat....

Chris......

There is absolutely ZERO difference between a marine coil and an automotive. Some will say there is an internal construction difference but that has already been disproved in countless previous posts since many of the OEM coils are oil filled just like the automotive counterparts.

What's pretty funny here is that this place advertises it as a marine coil yet Mallory's own website advertises the exact coil as a street coil...hmmmmm.

Where is the MARINE sticker?

If its a regular sealed can coil, they are the same. If you get into the specialty coils that come in molded boxes then there is a difference.

So...you have a fire and the sticker burns off...they still no pay?

Starters, alternators, carbs and fuel injection systems are all a different story. They are marine specific.
