Just acquired (2) 13ft (blue & white) Whalers with 40 hp Johnrudes late 60's early 70's. Wondering if should pursue to clean and fix or sell as is???? Trailers need tires and possible bunks, motors need full servicing, as not a lot of calls in my area for these.

Plenty of Whaler fans here. I just sold my second one. A 15'.

You're right, some markets just are not Whaler savvy.

They are easy to restore as long as the hull foam is dry. If it is not, there are ways to get it dry, contrary to some popular belief.

My opinion is that they always sell regardless of condition. Cleaning up the wood usually helps them sell faster.

Everyone I know that found wet foam replaced it as it would take about a century to air dry,,, so I'm curious as to how it can be done.

I dried two Whalers in about two weeks. The foam in Whalers is closed cell. The water is trapped between foam and outer hull. All that is needed is a flow of hot air.

I'm working on my 1962 13' that I grew up with.

take them to the coast if you want to sell them. We'll buy them sight unseen.

and even if they have some water in them, it's not that much weight so sometimes the fix is worse than the problem.

Don't sweat it. They're made for people who can spell.
