Bottom Coil not getting SPARK

:confused:I have a 1987 55 HP. Evinrude I replaced both coils because bottom coil was not getting spark. After replacing both coils I still have the same problem. Does anyone have any ideas ?

you got to check the pp output.
thats the primairy wire leading from the pp to the coil.

i believe it should be around 220 volts

you will need a multimeter with a DVA adapter.

if there is no voltage coming from the pack, you will have to check the coltage comming from your stator witch should be around 220 v. use dva adapter.
if thats bad replace stator.
if thats good, check the trigger.
the trigger should be around 1.5 volts.

get a manual with all the specs in it.

it sounds a lot harder than it realy is.

also before you do that check all grounds.
they have to be clean and grounding.

did you use sierra coils, where you have to put the plug end on. if so cut the wire insulation back, and wrap the contact wire around the connector. they are bad about not making contact, using that pin thing. i had that problem once upon a time.
