What are reasonable prices for a professional bottom painting? Also are Catamarans more expensive to be painted (since there are two hulls)?

And how often would you need to re-paint the bottom?

1st, more info needed.
Whats on the bottom of your boat now?
where do you boat, fresh or salt water?
how often do you use your boat?
how often do you take your boat out of the water?

Well I'm just asking for future knowledge.

But in my case if I were to store my boat in the water it would be:

Nothing on the bottom
Salt water
Once a week
Rarely (assuming I stored my boat in a dock slip)

Don't know too much about the cost of getting it done but it makes sense that you would get charged by the square foot of hull area. According to you proposed usage, I would:
  • Get a multi season bottom paint
  • Use a good primer as the base coat
  • Not use an ablative paint

Many variable in the equation, levels of salinity, pollution, amount of time running versus docked etal. Best way to get a really good idea is visit the area you intend on getting a slip and question the local captains and owners. As noted before cost is primarily based on sq footage and prep work. More prep for bare bottom hull correctly done.

Having a boat in the water ready to go is the greatest part of boating if you can afford it.

Good luck ya'll

PS They can also steer you in right direction as far as yards go. A little local knowledge can save you large amount of your local money.
