Re: Bought boat, no Hull number now what? NC
I've had a really pita time with a particular trailer... after getting new ncx number from inspector, stamping it on the trailer, etc... then another inspection and took to local dmv office to send off. first had space instead of dash on the paperork from ins co, then slash instead of dash, finally got dash between two numbers on bond from ins co, sent it in and the state says the bond paperwork "does not appear to be the original" and says they won't do anything else without the original, ins co says that's the original, I'm like wtf?!?!?!.... called, etc... back and forth. state: "doesn't look like the original", ins. co.: "it's the original". the folks in Raleigh at dmv have been absolutely no help and I'm almost ready to either 1. hire an atty to see if they can get it done, or 2. for the time and energy I've had to put into it and the additional hassle, just buy another used trailer with a title and cut this one up and take it to the dump.
I was so frustrated after the impasse that I left it go for some months, started back in on trying to figure it out a coiuple of weeks ago and was due to hear something from someone in the state office last week... will try again tomorrow
sorry to digress / hijack the thread - struck a nerve when i think of how much time and energy I wasted following the appropriate official instructions from one reasonably incompetent person to another. The state inspector was GREAT, it was the people in Raleigh that were absolute ____s. The lady at the local dmv office that had been trying to help was looking like she was ready to fling her telephone through the window more than once....... she was madder than i was at several points...
my experience with nc state dmv has bordered on absurd in two instances... wildelife commission has always been great / easy to deal with.
