I was worried this would happen

I bought what i thought as a too good to be true deal here in the store on a semi custom outdura cover. It came today and it huge on my boat. This is to go on a boat that is in a wet slip and i have no confidence it would not just blow off in a storm.

I did not expect it to fit like a glove but i did not expect it to be sloppy and huge. Now i am seeing that it is non returnable and am not happy as i cannot use this cover

Has anyone else run into this and if so what did you do? The covers seems to be of good quality it jsut is not even close to fitting my boat

have you contacted iboats. the wrong cover may have been shipped. also "semi custom " is they are made for many boats of that style.

Re: Bought cover here and it is not even close to a good fit

did ya measure the length and beam of your boat?
did ya choose the most appropriate kind of cover for your style of boat? ie. bow rider, closed bow vhull, trihull etc, etc....

while i didn't get my cover here. i did those two things and came up with a cover that fit even my boat... i have a hardtop to contend with and i did need to compensate for it (beam wise) when ordering the cover..... things like these need to be considered when going semi custom covers.....

the covers that are to good to be true prices seem to be covers that ain't moving on the shelf i'd think. usually come with a no return policy as the dealer wants rid of the overhead and is willing to take a loss on them... just to be rid of them tieing up his cash flow and space..

one reason i get my covers custom built. My 18ft Charger DL got a cover made for it that covers the whole boat, cost me 6 bills and also has the sandbags. Great fitting cover and great material and hand made by pros!

I think he bought it during that close out sale they had. They are not returnable.
Robert,I have a brand new in the box Outdura cover i never used. Its for a 18 to 19 footer.I sold the boat last year and had 2 covers for it.The buyer did not want to buy the new cover.
They are super thick heavy covers. Its too bad it fits so poor.
Without it being on the trailer to bungee it down its going to pool water...bummer.
Maybe you can use it as a winter cover though.

That is exactly what i bought and it fits like garbage, i am waiting to hear back now how they are going to fix this. I am not paying for it if they don't correct the issue. I am not looking for a perfect fit but this is not even close, it will blow right off. I charge over 60k a year on my credit card so Citibank will just tell them to stick it if they try to keep my money, we will see what happend

My guess is that is was listed as "all sales final." If your credit card company decides to make them them take if back or refuses to pay, I would just like to say thank you for contributing to the never ending problems of this country!

Re: Bought cover here and it is not even close to a good fit

So, I'm curious about a couple of things:

1. Was this cover advertised as being a mooring cover? There's a big difference between mooring covers, which pretty much need to be custom fitted, and covers designed to be used on trailer boats, where they get tied off to the trailer. I can't imagine that any cover designed to be used on a trailer would work as a mooring cover.

2. Why not wait until you hear from the customer service folks before posting? Could this whole thing have been your mistake in reading what sort of cover you were buying? What if they go ahead and have you return it, despite the "No Returns" terms of the sale?

Re: Bought cover here and it is not even close to a good fit

If a product is offered for sale and is described as a semi-custom, as opposed to custom, for the boat and year specified, then what I would do is measure the boat...then compare the covers measurements.....that way i'll know how good a fit it is going to be.'cause otherwise i'll get a cover thats to big or to small, and then i'll blame the company for there lack of not doing MY homework.

Re: Bought cover here and it is not even close to a good fit

I measured the boat, called before i ordered, discusse dwhat it would be used for and was assured it would be great. I had to follow up with customer service as it took three days to get back to me when they told me one. The said the issue was my boat does not have bow rails. I said very politely there is no way bow rails would take up this much cover they said please give them another day and i would hear back

Hopefully it will be an alls well that ends well story, i am not the only one to have this issue it seems and i am sure it will work out fine. I will not feel bad about not paying for something that is not what it was claimed to be. I am the furthest thing from a thief, at this point i want it returned on thier dime and a refund or will happily take a replacement that fits.

time will tell

Ease up on the bashing.
None allowed here on iboats, either toward a business or person.
You have made your point and it's in customer service's hands now.
