Re: bought my husband a boat
I would get some xylene or MEK and see if it will dissolve the glue. Fill bucket partially with solvent, soak paper towels in it, apply soaked paper towel to the glue and let it sit, check in 10 minutes to see if the glue is loosened and let it sit longer if needed. You HAVE TO use rubber (latex, nitrile) gloves and a respirator when using this stuff, both of which can be purchased at Harbor Freight for $30-40, buy a box of 100 gloves as they don't last too long in the solvent. I doubled them up and replaced the top glove when it shredded. Home Depot and Lowes have these supplies too, but are more expensive.
If you want to make it really nice, build 1/2" plywood deck panels and then cover them with; carpet, anti-skid paint, marine vinyl flooring, etc. Plywood decks feel sturdier when walked on than the thin aluminum hull. Don't know if this is too much of a project as the deck panels need to fit between the seat bulkheads and also should have some ribs attached to their bottoms so the boat's aluminum ribs are not the only thing supporting the decks, makes the decks firmer.
I would look into something other than carpet to cover the boat's interior since carpet can trap moisture and fish gunk, not easy to clean. You can paint the deck and sprinkle sand onto the fresh paint to make it anti-skid, followed up by vacuuming the excess sand and another top coat of paint. There are also premade anti-skid coatings available, Herculiner, DuraBak, etc. Don't choose a dark color as they can get hot.
