The trick is to follow the installation directions to a Tee... Specifically the part about installing the transducer... Thats the most important part...

Read the directions two or three times before you start to install it so you can become framiliar with all the bits & pieces... ;)

mount the transducer to a NO rot substrate like mohogny ,,teak,, or a hunk of your wife's white cuttin' board..

epoxy that in place .. use duct tape or such to hold it in place to dry..

mount transducer to it,, as not to put rot causin' holes in your fiberglass & wood transom..

Heatzoneexpress
You need to mount your transducer. this is most important part of instlation. If you can shoot thru hull on your boat that is the best way.
If not then may want to mount a mounting plate to back of boat first then mount your transducer to that, see link below or go to cabelas.com and search for mounting plate.
Good place to mount usually right next to spedometer pick tube on starboard side.
Importang to get pointed straight down and at least half of the transducer below the hull. You need a place with no air bubbles and 18 inches or more from motor.
Also see Lowrance's demo on link.

http://www.lowrance.com/Tutorials/sonar/sonar_tutorial_01.asp

[URL=http://www.cabelas.com

Mount on Rt. Side of boat. Predrill and Buy some good stainless steel screws. You should mount the transducer about 12 in. from the starboard gunwhale. ( Check Directions for mounting ) then put Silicon in the predrilled holes and all over Screws. Mount Bottom on transducer 1/4 in under bottom of hull. That way it you hit something in the water it won't Brake off. DRILL ABOVE WATER LINE ! Then use a clam shell to put over the cable, Fill with Silicon. Buy THE GOOD STUFF ! NOW go catch some fish.

I just bought and installed the same finder last week on my Ranger. Used existing holes in transom, hardest part was fishin the transducer wire up through the hull to the dashboard. Waitin for the ice to melt so I can try it out!
