Actually, The pontoon is 22' and the est wet weight is 2800lb. I am really leaning more towards a tandem axle trailer. It will handle better.

Oh, 22 feet? Sorry, for some reason I thought it was a twenty footer. Yes, I'd go with a tandem.

I see ads all the time on Craigslist for hauling pontoon boats. If you just need it in and out of the water a few times you could just hire it done until you can come up with the money for a new trailer. I have an 18'er and it came with a dual axle but no brakes but I tow with a F350 diesel so it tows and stops pretty easily.

IMO..I'd get the tandem w/brakes regardless of what you're towing it with. We're talking about the weight of a full size car behind you and if you need to stop quick, who wants 3500 lbs attempting to push the rear of your vehicle in the air? Plus it would be easier on the life of your vehicle's brake system too. But that's just my opinion....yes you could easily tow a 3500 lb object behind your F150 but the real question is.....at 45-55 mph just how quick can you stop your vehicle with an extra 3500 lbs pushing from the rear????

Weigs i have that same trailer from pontoonstuff and it's a great trailer. The people there are very nice and will help you through your needs as well. I drove there to Indiana and it wasn't too bad "northern illinois here" and they'll even meet with you on Sat. mornings if it works best.

I'd be questionable on whether or not it's a galvanized steal or not. Also those tires look like they aren't really meant for high speed travel, but other then that I guess it looks like a nice trailer. The bunks are right over the tires so that's always good for weight distribution.

I would not think you will be nowhere near requiring a trailer with brakes legally or otherwise.

So the dealership just quoted me 3700 for a tandem axle trailer, brakes, and tritoon kit. That seems expensive, I'm going with the trailer from pontoon stuff.com

The trailer PontoonStuff carries is the same as what's being sold at the big trailer yard in Elkhart, and the same trailer that comes from Lebanon, MO. They're the trailer that Lowe and other pontoon brands come on, and they're perfectly nice trailers.

With a 22' boat, you'd want the heavier duty tandem axle version. My Bennie has the Express Tube 3/4 length center toon, and a 2 toon trailer fits my boat. If you have the full length center toon, you'd need the full length center toon bolsters--about $275 if my memory serves me correctly.

Brakes are needed in some states, and in places where the driving conditions are tough--like Atlanta city traffic, or in the mountains of Colorado. But if you have a good tow truck and you don't tow long distances to strange places, pontoons don't absolutely have to have brakes. But some states have unreasonable trailer regulations, so you need to be sure of what your state requires.

Your dealer's not competitive on his trailer prices. I would think it should run more like $3,000 equipped that way.

$3700 is definitely on the high side. The past few days I've been pricing a trailer for my boat (24' @ 3000 lbs approx) as well. The trailer I'm looking at is a Karavan KDPT-2225-39 which is a galvanized tandem axle (leaf springs) with 10" disc brakes (1 axle), tritoon kit, guides, steps on the winch post and 13" wheels. My dealer is giving me a special deal (due to the all issues I've had this past season) at just under $2800. Four other dealers have quoted prices between $3400 and $3600 for the same setup (one quoted the EZ Loader brand) which seems to be the going range. Obviously I'm going with my dealer and I actually ordered it today.

Believe the 2012 Yacht Club trailer (dual axle with brakes) for my 24' pontoon was either 2799 or 2999.
