i have a 14' open aluminum boat and when i bought it, it came with snaps that basically end after the casting deck. i was wondering if there are such covers made, or if its custom

Don't know for sure either way; but if you want any knowledgable input, you need to share the pertinent info on your boat. What make/model/year boat. Some measurements of the snaps including spacing might help. Chances are, though, you'll be getting a custom fit cover to match the snaps; or removing/living with the unused snaps which are already there. If you go to an awning shop, it may be fairly inexpensive to have it made. You'll need to bring the boat with you for a reliable estimate. You may end up leaving the boat there, and picking it up with a brand new custom cover for not too much money. Good luck.:)

Safe and happy boating always!!!

Re: bow cover

Most likely added by a previous owner, making replacement cover should be fairly simple.

The canvas is custom as most are. The metal retangular brackets inside the boat gunwales are for holding the arched bows. It looks like the PO had some sort of dodger or mooring cover made for it.

What you're asking about is called a dodger. This is an example of 1 type. They make them to your specs, so you can get them collapsible, smaller, more tent-like, simple arched, etc. All depends on your needs/wants.
