I recently bought an 83 16' mckee, on the front of the platform there is a circle about 6" in diameter. Is there a specific use for this thing. It looks like a boat seat could go there or maybe anchor storage but it doesn't seem to want to come off so I thought, why not ask?

Re: bow details

The circle, I believe, was the opening they used to spray the foam in when manufacturing the boat. I tried to remove the one on a 17 footer that I had to see if I could gain any access below. I destroyed it by trying to remove it. <br />It's not backed by wood so it's not strong enough to support a seat.

foam hole - dont know that it has a real name to it. we never drilled anything into it.

The plug seemed a little to far forward for a seat.

Our 17ft has hatch covers for the front right and left sides so we use one of them for anchor storage.

Do your left and right storage bins have drain plugs? One of mine was filled in and I am contemplating re-drilling- it to make it a little easier to remove water. I cast net from the bow platform and water often seeps into these compartments.

Re: bow details

That circle is called a Foam Cover and does cover the hole that the foam is injected in.

I just ordered one and there are at least two sizes. I know as the sent the wrong one the first time. It was about 6 1/8 inches in dia. I needed a big one and it is about 9 3/8 inches. I have to look at the invoice, but I think it was about $26.

On the 16 and 17 hull there is another foam insertion point under the center deck board, up forward. It doesn't have the cover, but is fiberglassed over.

Hope this helps
