I have a 1985 Boston Whaler Outrage. The bow eye has separated 1/8" from the boat. Does anyboady know how to replace or repair?:'(

Thank you

Re: Bow Eye

Key, Usually there is a vee-shaped piece of wood used as a backing plate for the bow eye. These can rot and compress, causing the ehe to pull out a bit. If you can get to the back of the bow eye, you may be able to tighten it up, or replace the backer.

Re: Bow Eye

Lieutenant, I just checked the boat through and there is no possible way to get behind the bow eye. This particular bow eye is where you would attach the winch. I'm also wondering if water has gotten inside and ponded. what are your thoughts?

Seaman/Oncebitten, I checked out the website and couldn't find anything on this problem. Thanks for the reference.

Re: Bow Eye

Found this explanation on the discussion pages of Continuous Wave. Did a search on "bow eye".

http://forums.iboats.com/bbBoard.cgi?a=redirect;url=http://continuouswave.com/whaler

Apparently the bow eye is, itself, a bolt on the back side and the eye nut is inside the forward locker. There are a lot of other similar responses, so it's got to be fairly common. Not that I'm trying to send you away :), but I think there's a good bet, if you post there as well, someone there could answer more precisely. They seem very tight- the whaler bunch.
