Re: Bow heavy Starcraft...how can I remedy this?

Ya maybe Hooty, I run my motor with the cavitation plate 4 inches above keel, I have a prop that can handle the loose water.

Of course this is only a "guess-along" but from what I have heard so far, I dont see why a high quality, high rake prop, will not help the situation alot.

Is the boat design so poor that it cant be helped? Ya wont know till ya try, borrow a test prop from a dealer.

If the prop gets you close, throw a little ballast in the stern. (Allular) I would not add ballast first, as this is a last resort only.

One more thing, if at all possible, move the heavy stuff as far back as you can. Against the transom if possible. Later, Mike

Hello again. So I could run the same size prop with more cup and perhaps get a fix for the trim? I'm running in the ideal rpm range with the current prop setup. All the heavy stuff is in the rear of the boat. The only thing left to move would be the seats so I've done all I can do there. The last time we put put the shop tach on it with only two of us on board, six gallons of fuel, two batteries and without the current lounge seats I ran 5500-5400 rpm at 46 to close to 50 mph.

Here's a pick before I fixed her up.

Nice boat Allular, it would be nice to see a pic of the stern also. I think you need to try a high rake prop.

Looks like you have enough ideas to try to
fix your bow heavy problem. But if you can get a message to Star Chief 24, tell him to try oldboatlit.com for manuals, brochures etc.

Doel fins solved my bow down problems very well. This product also gave me a greater control over the ride position of my boat and created better skipper - crew compatability as we didn't have to move around to level the boat. I can't recommend it enough!
Ross
