Bow mount trolling motor mounting position question

Does it make a difference if the mount is mounted port or starboard on the boat? Wonder because all that I have seen (other than mine) are mounted on the port side of the boat. I mounted mine on starboard or right side just because I am right handed. However have noticed in wind conditions that the stern does not track along but is pushed with the wind. All the other boats I see this does not happen to. I do not have a bass boat just a 14' aluminum that I kinda made in to one; it works for me until I win the lottery.

I have done it both ways, bear. I haven't detected any difference.

On that short boat, your weight up front take a considerable amount of weight off the stern so it will be much more sensitive to the wind. Regardless, it doesn't make any difference which way the motor is oriented. It still pulls straight ahead.

Thanks for info. I won't try switching sides then. I have almost as much weight in stern as I weight with three batteries and the gas tank.
