Bow mounted trolling motor-Split Rail application?

I've heard of guys mounting a trolling motor on the bow of a CC (not a Bay Boat) by having a split rail. Can anyone tell me what a split rail is and how the mounting is done. Can you get a front mounted trolling motor with a shaft that long? I am looking for a boat and see a lot more CC's out there than Bay Boats and I know many of them have shallow enough drafts so that they could also go in "Bay Boat" water.<br /> Stalker
