I want to bow mount a trolling motor on my Maxium 190sr. Does anyone manufacture a custom or universal mount or mounting system that would work where there is no 'well' or dedicated flat spot? The deep V configeration does not track very well at low speeds (ie the bow goes back and forth) so the engine mounted motor or transom mount would not work very well.

Head to your local marine supply store and measure a quick release plate for a trolling motor of your choice. Cut a piece of cardboard or plywood to those dimensions. Adjust the tongue jack so the boat has the attitude it would normally have on the water. Then position that piece of plywood on the deck so it is level with the boat and either tape it or shim it to hold it in place. Now make a template of the gap at either side or at the front and back (one or the other -- no need to do both). The idea is to fashion a block of wood that will serve as a solid shim between the quick release plate and the contour of the boat. These two pieces can be fashioned from hardwood then stained and varnished/oiled or a machine shop can fashion them out of aluminimum relatively inexpensively if you make the pattern. Remember that these pieces will not be the same. You then bolt the quick release plate through the shims and throught the deck with large backing washers beneath the deck. Use stainless hardware.
