I recently bought a boat with bow planes.....first time to have to deal with this. Basically they do not work. I believe there is air in the hoses but before I tackle this small problem I was wondering if this labor would be worth it or just to leave them alone and let them serve "for looks" I won't be using this boat on the ocean.

Are you talking about Trim Tabs on the Transom?

They are trim tabs and you will need them on that boat.

Bow planes are typically found on the bow of a submarine...

Vector,

I am Thomas and I work for Bennett Marine in the Client Service Department.

It looks like you have set of our trim tabs installed on your vessel and I would be glad to help you trouble shoot the system. Please tell me more about what is happening (or not happening), so we can get started!

I look forward to your reply.

Sincerely,
MJ Thomas
Bennett Marine, Inc.
Client Services
trimtabs@earthlink.net
www.bennetttrimtabs.com

Re: Bow Plane Hydraulics....

thats no 1990. maybe it was rebuilt, or the engine was replaced. Merc hasnt made a drive without thru hub exhaust since I dont know when. You got a healthy set of tabs though. Not only is that drive old, it looks pretty bullet proof.

Thank you for your info. I will keep that in mind whenever the mechanic looks it over. Hopefully it won't be too big of a deal to maintain.
