Bow Pulpit

I was thinking of adding a small pulpit off the bow of my boat. I would like to mount the remote spotlight further out to prevent glare. I was hoping someone with a creative mind (counts me out) could give me some ideas on how to do it.

I like the idea of having an anchor roller off the bow and perhaps a mount to put the light on above it.
Below are pics of the boat with and without the handrail.

Re: Bow Pulpit

Ok, here's my brain drain on bow pulpits.

As short as possible. A nose dive or "burying the bow" into a wave could and has stressed decks to the point of seperation and failure.

Conform the pulpit construction to the deck without cutting away original construction. A contour gauge can help here.

Retrofits can be hairy and setbacks from under two feet all the way back to the cabin windscreen, redoing the forward hatch, and with angled support downward to the bow entry.

Great Looking Cruiser, btw. Shows like new !

Enjoy

Re: Bow Pulpit design ideas

I was hoping I would not have to redo the deck hatch. I was going for something a little less elaborate. I even considered just using a flat piece (alum or S.S) to make a small flat bracket on which to mount the light forward of the bow. Perhaps an anchor roller/ pulpit is too much to ask for. I was looking for a creative idea. I think my bracket idea is a little plain, nor do I want a full pulpit. Something in between is what I want. Any ideas?

Re: Bow Pulpit

I have been looking at making my own also and I am turning to starboard material. There are some people on ebay who sell it and they have other colors besides white if you want to go that route. I am going to shape mine and rout the edges. Go with non slip though... Hope that helped
