just wanted to know what you think is the best pedestal kit/ configuration out there for under $100? I’m a pretty big guy so I need something that is sting and will hold together. Also, I fish salt and fresh so it needs to last.

First things first. :welcome: aboard Captmo47. Always nice to have a new member...

Remember, with a single post type seat arrangement, you have to mount the base very solidly. All the torque and stress is working at the base where the post inserts. And that can be a huge amount of leverage, So the base has to be very well mounted in solid material. Other seat mounts can spread that stress over a larger area and alleviate that torque better. But lots of boaters use single post arrangements and have no problems. Just something to think about...

Thanks for the tips. I’ve got a .25”x12”x12” piece of stainless I’m going to use as a backer to sandwich the floor with the seat mount base. That should give me the strength I need. I’ll post pics or all my projects as soon as I get time to do them.

I am actually using an aluminum plate, about the same dimensions, for my swivel seats for the same reasons. And they are not even post pedestals either but merely flat mounted swivel. Better to build safe and sound whenever you can.
