I have recently purchased a 1987 Sea Nymph Fishing Machine 14 foot off of my father. I want to install a bow trolling motor. I am thinking of the Minn Kota Terrova 12 volt, 48” shaft, 55LB trust, with auto pilot, co pilot and universal sonar 2. My question is, will it fit on the small bow deck on these boats. The deck has a metal bow cap that comes back 7.25 inches. Then the plywood comes back another 12 inches for a total of 19.25 of inches. At the end of the deck the beam is 33.50 inches wide. I will install a detachable base plate. Is there a standard side to mount it on, or is it user preference which side the motor hangs off.

Thanks in advance for all the help. Charles

It doesn't matter what side though most that I have seen, including myself, put it on the port side as to have a little more clearer view when driving.

Aside from the visibility issue, you may want to consider what you dominate hand is and how that will affect the raising and lowering of the motor.

I measured 20 inches from the top of the water to the top of the bow deck, is 48" shaft fine?
