If you're looking for a sporty, go fast boat take a look at Checkmate. They've been in business since the 60's and have a great reputation for quality.

And Maxum was one of the manufacturers I was looking at until I found out they were no longer in business.

Maxum was just a bayliner with fancier upholstry. You can get any part you like for them because they shared 99% of their parts with their Bayliner sibling models. So I wouldn't shy away from a Maxim if you find one you like.

One other thing to remember is that even though boat companies might be out of business you can still get the engine/outdrives serviced just about anywhere. A mercruiser is a mercruiser no matter what they installed it in. As for the rest of the parts, you'll find that even common things like glass are nearly impossible to find or insanly expensive wether or not the mfg of the boat is still in business.
