Boy I'm really confused now

It's raining outside 8) 8) 8) 8) (drought is busted!!!) and have nothing to do so I'm surfing.

Over at the Merc prop selector site and put in all my data. Currently running a 24P at 5600 rpm's. WOT upper limit for engine is 5500 (big deal).

So Merc comes back with a 4 blade Trophy + at 25P or a 3 Blade Laser II at 26P. Well, this will drop my rpm's down in the mid WOT range and all you guys and gals say to keep em up. :%

Sides that I put in Top Speed for desired result and the boat is an alum with a console. Why should I consider a 4 blade SS with ports in it for a 750# boat. :/:

So then I change and say okaye, I'll play this little game......lets prop for handling rather than top speed.....in they come with the hi-five. Phew I missed something somewhere.

Oh well, guess I'll just have to limp along with my piece of ......Ballistic. 8)

I am going out on a limb here by guessing that they are thinking your boat is a little heavier and also may need some stern lift, as many fishing boats do. Also, additional blades help handling issues...

I hear what you say I think. Probably so on the weight thing, but on the handling, I experienced some of that with the alum Hustler I bought and tried (once).

It was only 3 bladed, but (you can read about all their goodies all in their ads) I think they have more blade area or something because I actually had higher speed per rpm at the lower speeds (to 35) than the Ballistic and control over boat speed was very solid.The punch out was good and solid and other than one complete wipeout, it held good in sharp high speed turns.

I think if I had a deep V boat and skiied with it like we used to do with the 4 kiddo's and all the chicken and pop on Sunday afternoons, I'd vie for the High 5. Ought to be a real arm jerker when you hammer down on her.
