My boyfriend and his buddy bought a old 1955 boat in 1988-89. I was 20 yrs old at the time and remember when it was our first turn to get the boat.. So we drive all the way up to Green Peter Lake from Albany.. NOW, Stop laughing, It is a real Lake in Oregon. I was there for almost 10yrs. before coming back to California... Back to the story..
Anyway, we get to the Lake with only one argument. He forgot the battery for the boat and of course its my fault.. Well, I was putting on my make-up.. he was yelling, hurry-up...Hey at the time it was important for me to look good for the fish... He backs the boat down the 400 ft ramp and gives me the rope. "Hold the rope, I have to bring the battery back with me." No problem... So I'm just standing on the dock looking around and checking out all the PEOPLE and the lake, Watching the other boats, kind of wishing we had a new prettier boat.. Here comes Loyde with the battery.. He has got this pissed off look on face.. " Well".... he said,, I was kind of puzzled, "Well What"... He said in this nasty joice,,"I don't know why your holding the rope for, sence the (cleaned up words) G. D. Boat is sunk", "You think you could of paid some attention to the boat instead of looking like stump holding a rope".. As far as I was concerned I did my job holding the rope.. It was the peoples job on the bank and 6 other boats to laugh their heads off over us trying to figure out how to get the boat out of the water and back on the trailor.. So up went Loyde 400ft with battery in hand again of course to the truck.. Being this was a half sunken boat, I dropped the rope... We got it on the trailor and got most of the water out and put the plugs in.. Now who's fault is that? Not me... He said nothing about a boat needing a plug to keep it afloat.. I learned that I always put my plug in the boat before I leave the house. That way I won't have people laughing at me.. They may have to tow me in if the engine quits, but I'll be D"med if I'm going to sink my poor old Bayliner with wetness's around to point and laugh... I'm less than forty yrs. old now, so I must of learned something on that faithful day... ""Laugh at yourself when you make misstakes and don't blame it on others""..

P.S.. Just to let you guys know... A couple of people came up to us after taking the boat home and committed on the old thing.. Nice old Boat you got there.. I said in a laughing vioce, "Holds Water Really Good Too"... As we drive off the ramp there was a line of water all the way down the 400ft ramp and we trailed water for 2miles out of the park...When I looked back I can still see the look on their faces.. NICE OLD BOAT LOYDE.. I never did get a second trip with him... Go figure..

Yeah,

Cute girls and boats are a dangerous but all to common combination. Look for "My Confesion" farther back in this section.

Yep, I live in the foster area and have seen that lake more times than I can even begin to remember. Some real beautiful land out here

Also, which ramp were you at Whitcomb or thistle?

Don't remember, but it was very long walk down and up.. The area was sloped too. Trees everywhere.. We came in on the Salem side.. North?
