You need to fatten up your jetting on the low end by a couple of sizes. You have fuel jets and not air jets (like the later models) so you need to go up in size.

Should I go up 2 sizes? And it is the jets on each side of the carbs right? Thanks

I'd go up two, and they're on the side of the carb body. The main jet is on the side of the float bowl.

(part #40 on the OEM parts diagram)

Ok, i Pulled the jets out, they are marked 29, so I need 31? Plus what about drilling them out? We use to do that on our race engines! If so I would drill it out to .310mm right? Or are the jet numbers different on these carbs? Or would it just be best to buy new ones? I just don't want to put a bunch of money in a 28' party barge that just goes to a cove and drops anchor! Lol I just want it to start and run good! Thanks again..

You _could_ drill them out, but they're not very expensive to buy new. You spent a lot of money on your new reeds, it'd be a shame to blow them out with jets that lean sneeze.

would the #33 be too big? there is no idle adjustments on these carbs either.

I'd go with the 33 and keep an eye on the spark plugs. They'll tell you if it's too fat. Error on the side of fat when setting up the new reeds.

i think i found the right ones, #31 part number 0318823, or #32 part number 0320016? this is too crazy for just changing reeds!

It's like doing any engine mod. You can't just change one thing out and expect things to work together properly. Those reeds are really quite different than the stock metal reeds. The stock jets will cause lean sneezes and will blow them out, then you're stuck replacing those brand new reeds.
