I have posted here about Bozo (my Chessi/Lab mix) catching the theif in the motel parking lot one night. (See very disturbing prank). His latest adventure happened today at out house, with the other usual suspect, our old lab Lt. Maynard. Here is what I posted on a hunting board.
We came home this afternoon and found our old lab (Lt. Maynard) wet and laying on the front porch. We go out of the car and saw he had something he was standing guard over. He was just as happy and wagging and wiggling, as he showed us what he had. It was two hen Mallards and one drake. My wife and I were amazed to say the least.

About that time BOZO my Chessie/Flat Coat mix was connimg up the yard from the creek with another hen Mallard. He came up on the porch and proudly dropped it at may feet, I told him what a great dog he was. Maynard immediately grabbed it and added it to the pile he was guarding.

I called to my to brother-in-law, Bill, who was in his yard next door. He came over and saw what the dogs had, and started laughing .

Earlier today the "yuppies that moved in next door to him a couple of months ago, had brought some "tame" Mallards home and turned them loose in the creek. Bill took the fruits of the harvest home and is going to clean and cook them for the family thanksgiving dinner.

Bill, is not Bozo's and Lt. Maynard's, favorite friend anymore.

Oh yeah Bill said he is going to try to talk the yuppies into getting some geese. I guess we will have Goose for XMas,
I found out this evening that the ducks had, had their wings (flight fethers) clipped so they counldn't fly. Bozo and Lt. Maynard are actively patrolling the creek looking for more ducks :)

I guess the yuppies turning the ducks loose in a creek near where 9 retrivers (I have two and Bill has seven retrivers), live has to be considered a Stupid Human Trick

Dontcha love seeing dogs cooperate with each other? Great dogs like that almost make up for all the crappy things humans do.

I guess those dogs will spend the rest of their lives on the hunt for flightless ducks - a mission like that can really put meaning into a dog's life.

My yellow dog Dusty (hound/boxer/???) takes his job of keeping his backyard possum-free very seriously. He won't hesitate to call me outside any time of day or night to pull one off the fence for him (I use a shepard's hook, like for hanging birdfeeders - but only if they don't run away after a good long blast from the water hose). Danged if I know why possums want to hang out in the only yard around with a big dog in it. But he's very kind to birds - shares his food with the crows.
