I have a SkipperB trailer(single axle) that has no brakes at all. I figure my boat, motor, and trailer probably weigh 1000 pounds. Can I install electric brakes on this trailer?

Sure you can, Michael, but it would be a waste of money on a 1,000lb. rig anywhere but in the mountains towing with a small, weak vehicle.

michaelt,

JB is right on. Put four big boys in your car or truck and you probably have more of a strain than pulling a 1000lb trailer.

Laws vary but usually it is somewhere between 2-3K lbs, before they are required. Relax and enjoy. Don't need to make a chevy a sherman tank.

I pull about 1000 lbs. behind a 6 cyl. Explorer & I hardly even know it's there, except when I look in my rear view mirror. Previous posts about said it all.
