We got a new Lund a few years back. The 1st time we take it to the lake we expected everything to go smooth since I've boated my whole life. Wrong! Boat launches fine. After about 3-4 hours the boat seems to take way way to long to plane. I look under the flooring and WOW, the bottom of the boat up just inches under the floor is filled with water!! Now I get to test out the new bilge pump, ok at least that works. Yes the plug was in. So we decide to fish a few more hours and then leave. I know I'm very smart. lol. We get in right about dark. I turn on the bilge to get another zillion gallons out from under the boat. I back down the truck, and what do ya know. One of the freaking bunks just floats off like nothing!!! My boy is trying to drive on the boat. And I'm yelling at him in the dark to stop adn wait. I get all nice and wet and swim for the bunk. The I get it back and I wonder how am I going to fasten it down. We use the spotligh from the boat to try and find the bolts to no avail. So I hold on the bunk as my boy drives on the boat. We take it really slow for the usually 30min. drive which took us about an hour. The leaking issue was a loose fitting to both the live well and bait well (different fittings though). They said sorry, and fixed what needed to be done. I couldn't get too mad because there is only one Lund dealer in the state! The next closest one is in southern Utah which is about a 6-8 hour drive!! Oh well I've been trouble free since

Re: Brand New Boat

Glad to hear quality control is alive and well in the good ol' US of A! Good save of a potential disaster - guess it's best to do a short shake down run with a brand newy?!

That is a reason I buy used boats and cars. Let the new owners find all the quirks and bugs.

Good thing you were experience, and unexperienced boater may of freaked out and let the boat sink.
