Hello, I have a 2011 EZ Loader for 18-21 ft boats, tandom axle, with surge disk brakes.
Everything is great except the brakes hang up. I have a 99 F-250 Powerstroke with a 6-speed hand shaker. Here's an example. I'm doing 45 MPH down a gentle, but long hill. I'm off the throttle, costing. I have to apply the brakes momentarily. This is enough for the surge brakes to engage slightly. But when I release the brakes, they surge brakes don't release. The actuator is still engaged. So now these brakes are dragging for what could be quite a while. I have to blip the throttle, while going down this hill to get the actuator to release.
There is a section of highway that I'm planning on taking a few times this summer. It's something like 12 miles of 6% grade. I could see myself cruising down this highway, at 65 MPH with my trailer brakes on fire.
Another example, if I could to a stop, I can feel the brakes are engaged. I can actually start to pull away from the light very gently and keep the trailer brakes engaged.
I thought surge brakes should have a spring or something so they release with no pressure.
Just wanted to know what you guys thought before I call EZ Loader.
Thanks,
Steve
