Brand new out of box force outboards?

well, as with my other post, i am still calling around to get prices for a rebuild on my 99 120hp, and this guy tells me he can get me brand new force motors never used for $3000.00<br /><br />anyone ever here if this?

What year is it? And is it 120 HP, too? Sometimes they have new old stock(NOS) hanging around they would love to part with. I would think hard about this one. Look into it further...

he said same year and horsepower. he told me he needs to pick it up, so he doesnt have it there. it just seems odd to me. now this isnt a shady place at all. they were very highly recommended by a few others. hmmm

If it were me and I was going to choose between the rebuild and a new one, I'd almost have to go with new if I had the dollars. Good price if this all is true. Make real sure this engine is BRAND new before you commit to anything!! And remember, this engine has sat for 5 years. At the least it will definitly need a new water pump impeller, as the old one will be dried out and brittle. Same may go for some other seals, like in the lower unit. Get a warranty. Just my opinion...

now i have. thanks.<br /><br />its hard to believe you can find a brand new 5 or 6 yr old motor. i dodnt mind getting the rebuild, but i just hope that the guy that is going to do it makes sure thats what it needs. he said he would test it to see where the water is coming form before starting naything.
