Hi to all, on Jan,1, 2011 I purchased a 16ft starcraft mariner with a 25hp evinrude on it. The registration says it's a 1988 model but the HIN is STR102597M74. I'm thinking it's a 1974 or possibly a 1975 model? Also it has an aluminum railing around the front of it about six inches above the top deck. Is this factory or dealer installed? Also, it is the beautiful pea-green soup color. Thank you all in advance, jonny d

Sounds good The bow rail is most likely Factory installed. Isent that Pea Green a lovely color??? My 22 Holiday 1975 is a wonderfull mustard yellow. Also a real Eye catcher. Welcome, hope the interior is good. I dont understand how the year is always different on reg. My 2 boats are correct a 78 16 SS and a 75 Holiday 22 ft.

Welcome. I think you're right about the year (1974). Let's see some pics. Rules are rules. I've got a '77 SS that I have yet to put in the water. Is yours ready to go or a project? I'm on a motor hunt for mine. A restore will happen after I ride it around a little.

Sounds like a nice rig, probably a mid-70s if it's "Avocado" green.

Welcome to the site. Better get some photos up so we can check her out:D

Welcome Johnny, and if you have not noticed, we are an "interesting" bunch. First rule is we have to have pics. OK thats the only rule....but we enforce it. Pea green is also avacaldo green, but in any case Starcraft has certain colors they used for different years. Mine is green and in the 70's area. There are gentlemen here that can give a definite answer but you need pics of bow, stern, knee braces and such. Congrats and prepare yourself for fun.

Looks good recent restore obviously, hopefully they did a decent job and didnt make a headache for ya. Congrats on the new rig! What are your plans for her? I think an engine upgrade would be on my list.

Re: Brand new Starcraft owner

I plan to take her Walleye fishing , I am already looking at a possible 50hp Evinrude to match hp rating for the boat

Nice fishing boat there, love the open layout.

Seems like a whole different rig on the inside, I wonder if the previous restorer was color blind maybe? :D

She'd be faster with a 50hp, but for walleye that 25hp might be a great one for trolling down to speed, eliminating the need for a kicker motor.

Well there it is!

Hey, I am pretty sure that one was on craigslist recently, eh?

I am kinda sorta going to turn my Jet Star (runabout) into what you have there (side console).

You have found your way into a great group of guys who are happy to help if ya need it.

Welcome!
