I'm interested in finding a cheap ($500) 15-19' fiberglass boat that I can mount a Yamaha 75 Enduro outboard on to use for inshore fishing in NE Florida. I'd like to find a typical runabout that I can take the windshield off of and add a seat in the back to run the tiller.

What would you guys recommend for an older boat as far as construction quality, stability, weight, and ride comfort. I'd like to avoid the stringer, deck, and transom work that comes with most older fiberglass boats. I'm a heavy-duty welded aluminum guy so that kind of effort is unfamiliar to me.

I'm thinking along the style of a 1971 17' Fiberform or similar. What manufacturers/years should I keep an eye out for?

Re: Brand Recommendation

Carolina skiff, whaler, parker or other sealed-hull designs similar to, or copying, those brands (McKee copied whaler, for example). Look for Duraboat and Aquasport, the old Mako's too.

It will be hard to find one for $500; that is usually the rotted out bow rider i/o price range.
