Greetings,
The hits keep on coming as far as boat maintenance this year. I put on brand new trim senders and limit switches on both engines this year.
The starboard engine/outdrive sender works fine. The port side was difficult to get working and adjust. At one point I opened it up to see if there was an obvious defect, but the contacts were fine and the potentiometer section resistance checked out OK. I finally got the thing installed and adjusted. I tested it about a dozen times on dry land and it worked.
The boat went in the water for the season yesterday- and wouldn’t you know it after about 30 minutes the port sender stopped working
.
So, I’m thinking the wiring connections within the sender might be flaky - or maybe the thing just wasn’t meant to be.
If I have to do an ‘in water repair’ not sure what my options would be.
Any one done a fix ‘on the fly’ of a trim sender? Or any other ideas? Taking the boat out in not a good option ($$$) and my boat hauler guy is pretty booked up for the next month.
