I disconnected the shift cables from the linkage on the motor. The control worked well, but i try to shift gear manually and still sock, bought a new shift cable kit( from the motor to the bravo 3) thinking that the problem was the cable. We pulled out the bravo and the cable linkage is stock all the way in, try pulling the cable and nothing, I does not come out. please see pics We are out of ideas. We need help. Thanks

May not work here for this situation but have you tried turning the prop (both ways) by hand while trying to shift/Move the cable at the same time? The prop needs to turn for easier shifting under normal circumstances.

You will have to remove the rear cover to help release the shifting assembly components and to help start solving your problem.

With the inner cable with the 2 little set screws disconnected from the engine shift bracket inside, you should be able to pull the stern drive away from the boat more if needed to work in another area..., Mercury Mercruiser 43433 Shift Cable End Screws & Anchor 9-72150 18-2149 | eBay

Thanks for the reply. I opened the rear cover and I can see that is stock on forward. I tried pushing the shifter and pulling the cable while moving the propeller and it does not disengage to neutral.

"Stuck" . . .

Not sure if this was the problem to begin with or if you tried this, but . . .

Normally, when you remove the Bravo outdrive the shift linkage gets pulled out from the drive to a point where the linkage can 'release' the cable. It also needs to be this way in order to get the cable to connect back up to the linkage when you re-install the outdrive.

If the linkage were to get pushed back into the outdrive for some reason, you will need to get your needle nose pliers and reach into the linkage passage and 'pull' the linkage back out (this essentially shifts the outdrive into gear . . . (I'm not sure if it is forward or reverse, but it doesn't really matter).

Bravo's don't always like to shift unless they are rotating, so sometimes a few turns of the driveshaft helps . . .
