Bravo I, II & III interchangeability question

I have a cracked Gimbal Housing Helmet on my Bravo III outdrive. My question is; can I use the Gimbal Housing of a Bravo I or II as a replacement?

Also, are other parts of the Bravo drives interchangeable between the 3 models?

What is the serial number of your transom assembly?

There were 3 different bell housings used, some are interchangeable, some are not.

The only things that is different between a Bravo I, II and III is the gear housing. The drive shaft housing and transom assembly, within the same serial number group, are the same. That's why I keep asking for your serial number. Without it, can't give you any answers.

Getting the serial number off the outdrive will take a few days since I don’t have the drive and it is heavily painted.

However, I do have the flame arrestor cover which is badly worn which has the transom serial 0L863458 ?? (Not sure of last #)

I know the engine number is 0L682755 7.4 MPI L29

Question for you Marine detectives, can you get the outdrive number if you know the transom and/or the engine number?

Ayuh,...... Within a given serial number range, the only differences are the Lower Units,.....

From your previous post your needing the bell housing (part of the transom assembly), and yes most any can be used with one caveat. On top of the face or the housing look for slots on the top. The slots are there so the U bolts do not come in contact when fully raised. You can use the one without the slots but then need to limit the trim cylinders

Get on after 1989 and all should be good
