Guys i know search is my friend and I certainly am searching but I am running out of time also.

I need to reinstall my bravo 3 and I think it was done improperly due to the fact it shifts into neutral and reverse but not forward. As i am searching I keep reading people say the disassembly and reassembly need to happen in forward. My merc manual says neutral.. I am a bit confused and hoping to go boating this weekend. Any ideas if it was installed improperly leaving me unable to shift?

No, Would that cause my problem? Someone else mounted the drive and has informed me they needed to troubleshoot a shifting issue which i feel may be related to a installation issue.

It doesn't really matter what gear your in as much as you need the shift linkage and latch sticking out far enough so you can get it to lock to the cable. (#16 & 20 below.) (crummy pic!)

If it's not sticking out far enough, you won't be able to get the cable end in far enough to "lock" in place.

Re: Bravo 3 installation help

Hey Guys, I am getting ready to head over to the shop and want to be equipped with as much info as possible. My mech says he has been trying to reinstall the drive from the forward gear, though he says he thought that the cable was getting latched. How can you tell, when i pull the drive i assume that i will need to un latch it myself if it is properly latched? I have read about tricks as for turning the prop certain directions to hold the latch. Any other help, Thanks

Re: Bravo installation help

Thanks to everyone who helped out!

The shift linkage was the problem, it was not actually locking onto the cable end. The boat is ready for the water again!
