I'm having an issue with my outdrive that caused me to get towed last time I was on the water. My impeller died this spring causing the boat to overheat and the bellows and shift cable to need replacing. Since that was done, there have been several times I've been on the water and shifted the boat into forward and the outdrive doesn't engage, however the engine revs higher. Typically when this would happen, I would just pull back and do it again and it would engage properly. The last time I was out something finally gave. I could put it in reverse but not drive, then finally I tried several more times and it finally engaged forward. Well then I made the mistake of stopping the boat and trying again, however at this point neither forward or reverse would engage. I even pulled the pin and manually tried to engage from within the engine compartment however that didn't work either. Both the throttle and the cable that shifts the outdrive appear to be moving properly inside the engine compartment. Any ideas or suggestions as to what would cause this?
Any and all help would be appreciated!!
