bravo steering pin - plugs vs rear plate method

Hi - just wondering what the pros/cons of each method are?

Im familiar with the plug method - done it many times with alphas with perfect results - considering the plate method for bravos -

My concern with the plate method is the pinch nut holding the steering arm on the pin - with the plate method I guess one can get a torch on it- but I have found them to be near impossible to remove otherwise in extreme situations where salt water has dripped on there for a few years-

With the plug method one can at least cut one hole a touch lower to accommodate a thin wall socket on an impact - the plate method probably has the advantage of being able to get a torch in though -

anyone got some light to shed on the 2 methods?

Never done the plate but have done the holes on Bravo. I like how easy the reseal was. Tap and install plug. I thing the best method is pull the motor then the plate

i got one motor out for rebuild - port one staying behind.. pulling the motor from under the fixed deck is too much of a hassle..

Besides that pinch pin is still an issue motor in or out.. plate method is prob fine. I did a gen 2 recently and man the side wall on the transom housing was almost 1/2" thick!
