I have a 350 mpi mag Bravo, and have it attached to a alpha. Just wanna knoe if there is a difference in the ecm between a bravo and aalpha regarding the shift interrupt , it has the plug in the harness for a shift interrupt. Thanks

Howdy,

There's no shift interrupt on a Bravo drive. (cone clutch doesn't require an interrupt)

If you're using a 350 MAG (bravo) engine with an Alpha, you'll probably need to wire it so the interrupt will work. you'll also probably want to remove the raw water pump from the engine and just use the one in the drive.....

I'm asking more about the ecm. The bravo had a jumper in the plug for the switch interrupt . I replaced the jumper with the switch interrupt , it stumbles the engine but still having a problem with it getting out of gear smooth. Doesn"t seem to have an adjustment on the switch interrupt .

Thanks for the reply, I put in a seastrainer for the raw water pump . The engine is fwc.

The adjustment is mechanical in that it shouldn't "stumble" the engine until you have a fair amount of "out-of-gear" pressure on the shift cable.

You may need to adjust the lower shift cable/linkage such that the switch is activated at the right "pressure".

I'm thinking mechanical too, I have new shift cable to the outdrive set at the six inch spec, My linkage has a lot of play when going into forward and reverse ( from the control cable linkage on the engine)? Shifts smooth into gear, forward and reverse ,just have to play with it to get it into neutral.

There is a difference in the ECM, the Bravo ECM is not programed to deal with the shift interrupt switch.
The wiring harness may have the connections for the shift interrupt system, but the ECM is not going to work with it. You will have to get the Alpha EMC for it to work.

Don read alot of your posts and got some good answers. When the switch is activated it does stall the engine , why would it stall if the ecm wasn"t programmed for it.
